Dear Mr. Kring,
Thank you for your inquiry.
We are pleased you are interested to utilize AIS services. We would
like to take this opportunity to answer your questions as fully
as possible.
Due to the certain restriction
imposed by the Post and Telegraph Department, Ministry of communications,
we are sorry to inform you that it is not allowed for any mobile
operator to provide SIM card to a digital mobile phone which is
not registered in Thailand. As we are a concessionaire only, we
have to abide by this regulation. This means that your only course
of action is to apply the International Roaming service (IR) with
your operator in Sweden. The followings are the network operators
with whom AIS cooperates; Comviq (tel. 200), Europolitan (tel. 222)
and Telia Mobitel (90350). Please contact your mobile operator in
Sweden who will be more than pleased to provide you with the information
regarding the IR services rate.
However, in order to serve
you best, if you stay in Thailand for a long time, we recommend
that you should buy a new mobile phone because, generally, when
there is a promotion, it is very economical. You only show your
passport and work permit document as identification when you register.
Alternatively, you may consider
our rental service-Phone Rent, the mobile phone can be rented at
the airport and hotels. A deposit of 30,000 baht for the cellular
900 handset or 40,000 baht for the digital GSM will be charged.
The equipment rental charge is up to the duration.
If you rent 1-2 days, you will pay 440 baht, 3-6 days for 410 baht,
7-15 days for 260 baht and 16 days and over for 150 baht per day.
Air time charges are 10 baht per minute for domestic calls, 10 baht
plus Telephone Organization of Thailand's rates per minute for long
distance call and 15 baht plus Communication Authority of Thailand's
rates for international call. You can contact MOBILE FONERENT counters
at Arrival Terminal 1 and 2 of Bangkok International Airport when
you arrive in Thailand.
If you have any further questions,
please contact AIS Call Center tel.no. (662) 271-9000 or callcenter@ais900.com.
Yours sincerely,
AIS CALL CENTER
