Actually, according to me, the Thai word for omelet is....omelet!
When I started learning Thai, feeling very smart, I would look up the Thai word for omelette, and order a "khai jiao." After several times of getting stuck with one of those horrible, greasy, overcooked, hard, flat Thai omelets, that you definitely do not want in your stomach when you have been drinking the night before(if ever!), I finally figured out that if you say it in Thai, you get a Thai omelet, if you say it in English, you get a regular omelet!!
I did also try asking for Khai Jiao Baep Farang(Omelet Farang style). The waitress would just kinda screw up her face funny, look at me very unsure, and ask, "You want omelet, yes?"
