Have to agree with IJ here and say that if the destination is the LOS then the travel time is well worth it.
Longest flight for me was the Falkland Islands in a C130 Hercules: 14 hours flight to Ascension Island - Refuel for two hours - then back on the plane for another 14 hours flying down to Mount Pleasant Airport, FI. 28 hours in the air. Not the comfiest seats on any aircraft and not much of a business class either. Also with the prospect of a six month stint down there at the end of it all. 
Now had Phuket been the destination I could have endured the numb ass with a smile knowing all I had was a short taxi ride into Patong, a shower and my first cold one at the MTB.
