Hutchy mate - probably most importnat consideration is not the money - its the distance - if you stay away too long or dont communicate regularly then that id likely to pose bigger threat to a genuine relationship.
Money issue is mainly secondary - if the girl has a good heart (jai dee) then maybe she'll handle a modest downsizing of lifestyle - but assuming your girl is not a drug user or gambler then try have as much contact as possible and if money is involved then Sticks advice is probably worth following.
