I think Maca should take 3 things.
Travellers cheques in sterling as back up. Can be changed back in the uk without exhange rate charges.
Cash...in sterling, usually get a good rate for changing UK cash on arrival.
And credit card as another back up. Never leave home without it as they say.
That's what I always do and it works well for me.
