always take aussie dollars (cash)cant see any sense in converting own currency to US traveller checks ,as LivinLOS mentions why pay extra fees.
And only change small amount at airport as town rates are better,and on nearly every corner.
Also nearly all ATM take your card and is only small fee for withdrawal.
Only problem I find is Domestic airports(bangkok,chiang mai,samui,sukhothai) other than phuket dont have money changing available,so make sure you have money for Taxi on arrival and also Baht in hand for departure Tax on leaving.
