Actually you're quite right
thou it's not always an "o" sometimes it could be an "e" but mostly an it's "a"... Like this:
air = aire
mascot = mascota
carol = carola
pistol = pistola
arm (as in weapon) = arma
masculist = masculista
petrol = petroleo
materilism = materialismo
