Haven't been there before the tsunami so dont know what it looked like before. However I have been on two of those Phi Phi island trips - one in April 2005 and one in November 2005. The side where the boats unload looked pretty alright to me this november. However, there are still some areas in Phi Phi that is pretty busted up. One thing that I didnt like were the huge piles of trash lying around the island baking in the sun and sending out disgusting odours. Maybe the dont have the time or whatever to remove them but it is a bit of a turnoff to lie at a beautifull beach and if the wind shiftes it smells like your sitting in a dumpster.

Phi Phi islands and the area around it is absolutely beautifull. However, I dont think that I would want to spend too many days there unless I was there to do some diving or relaxing with the girlfriend.
