Now if they ask what I do I give a vague answer like, “I work at the airport,” they seem satisfied with that. Any further details further seems to be of little interest to them and they generally ask nothing more.
What does “impress” them is when they learn that I work locally in Thailand. I suppose that shifts me from being a short term money grab to a longer term prospect for them?
I like that they are not so phased by occupation. It is refreshing not to be judged by what you do but rather for who you are. We can be a bit too obsessive in defining ourselves and others by our work in the western world.
