I agree with you that the %rate LiL presented could be nation wide but I assumed it was for Patong since I did ask for the Patong area... However I still think the vast majority of the girls being infected are working girls... I don't know how many working girls are living in Patong and I don't know either how many girls in total are living in patong but just to put in some figures... If there are about 5,000 working girls and about 30,000 girls in the age range and in total, this will mean (based on the 2.5% figure) that about 15% of the working girls are HIV positve and that figure is probably a bit lower among BGs and Gogo girls since they need to present a certificate of some sort that they are Ok which means that the rate may be higher for freelancers...

All of this is of course pure speculation....
