I am fat, old and ugly. It took me a week to figure out how to walk through a bunch of beer bars without having my crotch grabbed, or several "ladies" blocking the way. Don't look at the enemy, and they won't make any advances.
Eye contact, you look at them, and you're fair game. Perhaps if there is more eye contact, then there will be more chances to connect.
