As for higher prices in high season, although you may not agree with it, there is a reason they do it, maximise profit while the going is good in preperation for the low season hibernation period.
Like it or not, it's something you will have to get used to if you want to continue to return in DEC/JAN time.
And from what I keep hearing, 1k beer bar l/t is the standard in pattaya, but BKK and phuket are a different ball game.

I see what your saying about supply and demand in relation to prices but Ive visited Phuket and Pattaya every year now in High season (Nov to March) and during part of the low season (April - June) for the past few years and each time I have noticed either no difference or very little difference in the numer of tourists/girls. Last year there were more tourists in April/May than in Jan/Feb (probably tsunami related). For the past few years April/May/June have certainly not appeared like a hibernation period to me.
Adding on to this my opinion is that the hotels in particular artificially create high and low seasons to maximise revenue. The only time I can see higher rates been justified is during the xmas/new year period when there is an obvious change in tourists arriving into Thailand. Apart from this time of the year I think that hotels just follow what the majority of BKK hotels do which is to smooth out their room rate pricing tiers. Additionally I have never experienced girls charging higher LT or ST depending on high/low seasons but have experienced this in both Pattaya and Phuket.
