I find it hard to believe that the Thai police, or anyone else, could persuade two young men to confess to something that they are very likely (given that the PM has said 'maximum penalty') to get shot for if they have not done it.
We all have our stories about 'tea money' but, jeez, they have DNA and confessions and very likely other evidence that we don't know anything about yet. Are we expecting them to have no defence lawyer? Surely they can't put dodgy evidence out there in a murder trial?
