I agree with almost all you say, but im sorry, I dont agree with the last bit of what you said which was "The girls need the money". The girls WANT the money

That basically labels thai women as people who go with us because they are desperate for the cash. The vast majority of Thai women are NOT involved in the sex industry. Many of them do normal jobs such as factory work and shop work etc, and the thought of going with a fat falang like me would horrify them.
There are many reasons why a girl might go into prostitution, and they are no different to the reasons that someone in europe or the USA would go into it.

e.g.

Desperate for cash
Drugs/drink problems
The lure of a 'better' standard of living
They are forced into it

Probably one of the biggest factors is human greed. A lot of these girls come from the poorest parts of Thailand, mainly farmlands where the wages are very low, BUT never the less, people can still feed and clothe themselves etc.
Rather than work doing this kind of job (which I agree is very hard) they see friends they grew up with coming back driving motorbikes/cars, nice clothes, money, jewellry etc. The temptation must be too much.
They DO have a choice, and unfortunately, once they have had a taste of the poisoned apple, it is very difficult for them to go back to earning 150- 100 baht per day when they can make 5 to 10 times that easily in a day drinking and smoking and chatting to friends.

They are just as much responsible for looking after themselves as we are.
