Hey Slick,
Over the many times I've been to Phuket with either myself or with a group of friends, there are BG's that are in your face. We found a bar which after the first 5 minutes realised that we just wanted a drink or 2,3 etc, and just people watch down Bangla. Once they get to know you, you won't have any problem, as they know that your there to have a drink and then move onto other activitiies.
We have been returning to the same bar each trip, and had no problem's until last trip when they had a new owner. We finally found the old owner at a new location, and now go there. Plenty of these bars exsist, and the mamasan will just like you buy from them. As a loyal patron, and keep the flies (BG's) away if that's the intention.
They are all happy to pump the grog into you, just keep an eye on the tab.
