I really haven't had a lot of luck this past 6weeks with my wireless network
In Dec,my Netgear router packed up and I got another and everything has been fine until this past week.
Every evening I had to reboot the cable set top box to re -connect to the internet and it was getting crazy.
I disabled the router, and just connected the ethernet cable straight to the PC. That got me a connection, but I was still having to to the rebooting every so often.
On Wed last I couldn't get any connection at all
Same Thurs and Fri. So yesterday I tried to get things sorted out.
I rang the tech help at my ISP, NTL and after some fiddling around with settings, I renamed the PC and got a new IP address.
Rebooted and I had a wired connection.
Time to try the router again......................nothing, the internet was showing, but no wireless.
I reinstalled the software, but couldnt get any wireless connection at all
This morning,I got the tech support at Netgear to test my router and its fcuked..........again. It only lasted 6weeks
Down to Staples where I got it and they were great, replaced it with a Linksys Broadband router and I have just set it up and everything is fine again.
I couldnt recommend Netgear routers after my experience with them (2 broken in 18months),so I'll be interested to see how the Linksys one performs.
Out of curiousity, what make router do any of you guys use that run a home network, and what is your experience of the brand?
