Something I've wondered on occasion but never thought to ask:
Why are people so concerned with having a hotel pool when there's great beaches in walking distance (or even a short ride/drive)? Is it just because they don't want sand on their feet, they can't stand swimming in the ocean, or because they don't like the crowds?
Just want to understand the fascination with hotel pools...I've stayed at places where the hotel pool was a real dump (but these are places a LONG way from water...)
