Quite true Steve. Remember the French of the late 80's through to late 90's.
Only had to wind them up,stand up to their pack and they would gift you penalties to win the matches.
They have got rid of that mindset,but its hard to explain their mentality not to be able to sustain a winning run like past World Cup winners.
And on the subject of the World Cup, I know its a long time since NZ won it ('88), but they should have won in 95 when they were by far the best team,Lomu at his peak,and SA won after a freak rainstorm. And again in '99 they were on course to meet the Aussies but for that French display.
Its not always the best team that wins it. England should have won it in '92 but changed their gameplan from forward domination and paid the price.
