Hi Raggamuffin - thats a good salery for a language school, so should be pleased about that. Stickman (www.stickmanbangkok.com) has writen extensively on teaching in Thailand and check out www.ajarn.com for teacher to teacher info.

I'm not sure about Bangkok schools in particular - but in Phuket basically have 4 types of school -

1) Thai - follow Thai curriculum in Thai - free to age 15.
2) Thai curriculum with extra english and better (?) teachers - small fee payable, many better off Thai's choose this - its around 10K/year.
3) Bilingual School - These schools follow Thai curiculum but in English tought by foreign (english speaking) teachers and also a Thai teacher - I send my kids to this kind of school - 80% English and 20% Thai - aprox 85k/year.
4) International Scoool - follows IB/US or international GCSE (UK) curricular - but very expensive - tought by foreign (english speaking) teachers - fees 300k/year +.

It would be good if you could persaude your employer to take your kids into the school there - or at least a discounted rate.

Good Luck
