It is more likely that you are correct, I am a member of Diamond Club with British Midland and they quote 80,000 miles - my mistake. 65,000 is even better

Having flown both Singapore and Thai in Business Class, there is no comparison, Singapore Airlines is far superior as they have the flat bed and a great entertainment system. Thai's entertainment system was not as good when I flew (2004) and they still had the old style seats that reclined but did not "turn into beds".

It didn't really occur to me until I had 120,000 miles with British Midland which meant I could fly Business Class with Singapore and just pay the taxes. Then I saw the "part miles, part cash" offer and thought "Hey !! Why not fly twice instead of once, using 60,000 miles* both times and paying £405 plus taxes each time) ?"

* I made a mistake in my earlier post, with British Midland you get the chance to use half the mileage and pay £275 plus tax. Therefore it works as follows...

80,000 miles gets free Economy ticket, just pay taxes on top.
120,000 miles (Economy x 1.5) gets free Business Class ticket, just pay taxes on top.
160,000 miles (Economy x 2) gets free First Class ticket, just pay taxes on top.

Part miles, part cash...
40,000 miles plus £275 plus taxes gets Economy ticket.
60,000 miles (Economy x 1.5) plus £405 (£275 x 1.5) gets Business Class ticket.
80,000 miles (Economy x 2) plus £550 (£275 x 2) gets First Class ticket.

Lovely Jubbly !!
