Well they were not supposed to be here without the employer paying special taxes on them and them paying income tax.. 90% of burmese are illegal immigrants..
If you mean the Thai gov are stopping illegal workers as best they can then yes this has become more of an issue as Phuket gets 'richer' compared to the rest of Thailand..
