Bangkok is definitely the big city like everyone says it depends what you're looking for.
As far as girls there are allot more to choose from in Bangkok but they tend to be pricier than Patong eg. you may pay between 1000 - 1500 ST plus 500bht barfine in Bangkok and generally speaking 1000 LT plus 200bht barfine in Patong.
Patongs more laid back and accessible and of course there's the beach both are good but very different personally I'd go 3 nights max BKK the rest in Patong.
As most BG's will say when questioned on just about anything involving a decision upto you!
