This confusion seems to keep coming up.

A credit card is one that gives you credit and deducts that money from your account a month later (or keeps giving you credit paying only min balance but at high interest rates).

A debit card (sometimes called a bank card) deducts your money direct from your account when you spend the money. They dont give credit and have less protection than a credit card for fraudulent use.
