PLUS works fine, I have PLUS on my Bangkok Bank ATM cards and it works fine in Malaysia, Singapore and Sweden without any problems.

In my experience, both VISA and Mastercard can be both debit and credit cards. If debit card they deduct your account, while credit may be an invoice with no interest upon certain days, e.g. 50 days on one of my cards. You can also decide to pay that debt later and then you have to pay interest. As far I am aware of, credit cards gives a very bad rate compared to banks, so I never tried that way to borrow money, just for payment and once the invoice come I always pay in full.

Plus/Visa/Visa Electron is the same system, Mastercard have their own similar brands; most works in ATMs but not for cash payment in shops.

Visa Electron will be rejected by most online websites for example, for that, you need a real VISA card.

I discovered another thing recently, as I got Siam Commercial Bank Card. SCB has way lower daily/weekly limit than my Bangkok Bank cards, something you may keep in mind. I cant withdraw 25,000 baht on my SCB card but is no problem with my Bangkok Bank cards in the same ATM. I also think 20,000 is the daily limit by SCB while Bangkok Bank allows a lot more, e.g. 100,000 baht.
