I have to say that the BA09 \ BA10 from Heathrow is far and away my favourite route to Thailand.
I've flown BA\Qantas this way loads of times and never had any problems, luck of the draw I guess. Good luck with your flight Domi.
One thing I would mention is that I check straight through, get boarding passes for the BKK leg, in Manchester. If they can check you in for the flight you are very early and can get the seat you want.
