You might be right about AMEX but I refuse to believe that some hoarding of orders "until they have to let 'em go" does not happen. Lived it too many times...but it could all be a technical reporting glitch, who knows, I just learned to trade around it and cancel buy/sell orders and re-issue if necessary.

im joking about the MM's, there is tons of scum out there. ive actually worked for 2 very compliant firms, but even still, we had our tricks of the trade!
as for the AMEX, the specialists on the floor are the biggest scums on earth
the connectivity issue is real though, but they take advantage of it also
they know 75% of people will not call and go after a print that they are entitlled to
