One of the things I really hate about this forum (and probably the main reason why I just look at it & can't be ar$ed to post!) is that several of the "regular" BMs are so rude. I suspect many other "casual" BM's feel the same, several mates who haven't registered but just browse have passed comment on this....
But there just comes a time when it's necessary to put people in their place !
dwango is asking specifically about Baan Laimai, he's already answered his own question about Horizon
dizbuster I noticed you didn't flame gez on his "beach front hotel" thread so why flame dwango? Could it be that gez has over 1,900 posts but dwango only has 16....Surely gez could've done a search afterall there are websites giving maps with names of hotels on them (and no I'm not having a go at gez before anyone suggests otherwise!) Guess it's one rule for your mates....
As a "Senior Elite Member" don't you feel that you have a responsibility to help rather than flame ?
So back to dwango's query...
A great bit of advice I was given years ago was "Never give snap advice" - check your facts first otherwise you may look a complete twat
dizbuster I've just done what you suggested (something which I guess you didn't do yourself, or were you just being lazy!)...
1st I checked the sticky note - doesn't have Baan Laimai on it at all! It has Lamai Inn but that's a different hotel to Baan Laimai. Lamai Inn is on Rat-U-Thit and Baan Laimai is on Thaweewong Road (aka Beach Road)
Then I did a general search for "Baan Laimai" which gave 6 posts
Jan-04 Baan Laimai?
Jun-04 Baan Laimai Resort anyone been there?
Jul-05 Hotels Guest Friendly
Sep-05 x 3 Baan Laimai Beach Resort
Now I may be a bit pedantic but I kinda like up to date information. OK maybe dwango should have used the words "up to date info" but come on surely that's implied !
oh and dizbuster before you throw your toys out of the pram yes I do know Patong very well and yes I do know what I'm talking about. Just because you've got over 1,200 posts doesn't make you any smarter than those of us who only have a few...in fact it probably just makes you look sadder! (since Dec-04, averages 70 a month or 2 a day - sorry couldn't resist I just like figures...555)
Anyway to answer your query dwango:
I stayed there in May-05 and Nov-05 (sorry can't be more up to date....before dizzy starts quoting back my earlier comment...

) Never had a problem taking a girl back, no joiner fee & they didn't even have to leave their ID cards behind. It's a great hotel with a lovely pool. Totally recommend the place
As for other recommendations ? Well I stayed at Sea Sun Sand Resort on Rat-U-thit, girl friendly no joiner fee, smaller pool, not as nice but a lot cheaper, guess you get what you pay for
Would sugggest though that you book your room for 2 people with person no.2 being "TBA", doesn't cost anymore (in Thai you pay for the room not no. of guests) and you can always say "But I've got a room booked for 2 people, me & my girlfriend!". Also I e-mailed Baan Laimai before I booked and they said "No joiner fee, promotion" - print the e-mail & take with you just in case
Generally speaking this forum has a lot of great info, just a shame a few of the "regular" BM's feel the need to flame someone they don't know or someone who hasn't got many posts. It just leaves a bad taste in the mouth and runs the risk of the forum getting a bad name
OK My blood has stopped boiling now.....and relax.....
Now where's my TG's phone no.? I feel the need for Thai....
