Alcohol and diabetes do not mix well. The alcohol initially creates a high sugar level, but then peaks and falls rapidly, causing a very dangerously low sugar level, to point where some people pass out. Folks around then believe that they are just drunk, where in actual fact they are not far off a diabetic coma. Very dangerous.

If you are out drinking with a mate that is diabetic you should keep a very close eye on him, and have a couple of sugar sachels in your pocket just in case.
