I can imagine. The worst part about it was that we swore she knew what we were doing, and refused to get in the car that day. It really is one of the hardest things I have had to do - make a decision to end another animals life, even if it is for their benefit in the end. I cried like a baby and went back out to the car and my Mother was crying her eyes out too, we just sat there for 20 mins crying.
It's funny, both me and my Mother have not had pets since and this was about 10 years ago now, it's definitely stuck with both of us.
