Just came back from my first experience in LOS. I found that if you both look and smile at the bar girls they will be friendly to both of you. If they think that your wife is not "guest friendly" they will avoid both of you. It's probably a way of showing respect if your lady is not into that sort of thing. Once you make it clear that both of you are BG guest friendly, many of the BG's will be friendly to both of you. At that point you can be straight forward and ask. I believe you should both hava a couple of drinks to see if the other party is interested. I loose interest if I have too hard of a time trying to convince one of the bg to try something different.
In any event you must experience walking to the bathroom in the back of Soi Eric yourself. it's a lot of fun to be attacked by so many BG's. Let you wife watch from the from the front. Ask her what she thought.
