It's not obligatory to hook up with a Thai girl and bear the costs of supporting her and her family you know. I know several expats with Thai partners where not 1 baht of their money goes to her family unless he wants to make a gift like on a birthday or songkran.
We all live different lifestyles depending on our needs and circumstances and personally I much prefer to rent a ladys' company by the hour/night/day for a very small donation in comparison with most other places in the world...plus it's like being in a chocolate factory here with an endless range of new flavours to try
Seems your only real issue is to do with MONEY. You're as likely to get burnt financially hooking up with a woman no matter what part of the world you decide to put your roots down.
