Thinking about this I'm not sure running it in a VM is going to cut it, HDD/RAM not an issue but getting Aero to run with what is an SVGA driver will be a no no, and from what I've read the standard UI is pretty crappy compared to even XP, will give it a go anyway and see what happens.
The best place to keep up to date with Vista IMHO is Paul Thurrot's
WinSuperSite (probably mentioned it before). Has great reviews of all stuff MS, including XBOX stuff.
Another update I just got hold of is WMP 11, very nice indeed and pretty much what will be arriving with Vista. Have even signed up for the trial of the MTV/MS Urge service. Won't pay for it, but looks pretty good for people who use these kinds of services.
