Bonds is 41 years old. In good shape, except for his knee, which is bad and painful, often with swelling in it. If he blows out the knee again this year, he will be done for the year. Then, it is likely that he would come back next year to play for an American league team, quite possibly the Yanks, Red Sox, or White Sox, as DH.

Although he is not having a very good year so far, actually his worst ever, he is still the most feared hitter in the game. Still leading both leagues in intentional walks, which means that pitchers are afraid to pitch to him.

Make no mistake about it, the man can still swing the bat. He is walked, pitched around, and is, as far as I know, the only hitter in the game, for whom the opposing team shifts the position of players in the field, putting an infielder in short rignt field, and moving the shortstop to the 2nd base position, just to try to somehow stop him.

Not even Albert Pujols, who is without question, the best hitter in the game currently, gets that kind of treatment. No shift, or automatic intentional walk with runners on base for him. Even Babe Ruth didn't get that kind of treatment, or Ted Williams!

IMHO, Barry is not done, not by a longshot! He still has the good eye, quick hands, great swing, and just as much power asHe is likely to break Hank Aaron's HR record, but he might have to do it with the Red Sox!!
