Actually there's a really nice temple in Pattaya, built by the Chinese community. I always go when I'm there, and usually take a girl with me - they love it. It's at the very top of the hill on the road half way to Jomtien. Get a motorbike taxi guy to take you up there. It's got all these really funny wall paintings (well they made me laugh) of ridiculously heroic sacrifices that children made for their parents, according to legend. Apparently nowadays Thai people take their kids up there, show them the paintings and ask them why don't they behave like that.

It really is a beautiful, tranquil place. Makes quite a refreshing change from Walking Street and Soi 6! And you can see it all in a morning or an afternoon, at the most. Get up there with your camera and you'll have enough pix to keep your mum well happy!
