My thoughts on Net Cafes are in that other thread.. Even though its not being done I also feel unless your coming in with huge investment to make a slick retail environment that also has demo / play use of high end gaming your hard to find your target demographic (thais no return, tourists better things to do that 'game' anti socially) though as its not there its harsh to say it cant work, just my gut says no.
I know of at least one net cafe for sale.. First question I would ask is why ??
I think WiMAX, hotel broadband, free hotspots and bars with free service will make the market even harder.
The flip side is that in an area where it is less developed you might jump ahead of the curve for a while.. I couldnt find a Net Cafe on Lanta (I am sure there was I just didnt try hard) and even in Ao Nang I had to look to get online.. On Nanai it really is like bar, laundry, net cafe, laundry, resturant, net cafe, bar, bar, laundry. When the basic commodity is net access its hard to make your place special, more to do with good staff, maybe combine a cafe atmosphere (surprisingly thats rare and the addition of a coffee machine and some cold drinks is low input), additional services like faxing, scanning, photo printing (get a real photo printer), might just be able to build a base.
