Phuket is not cheap.. 2k GBP will only last a month or two of partying.. I spend about 2k GBP per month as a resident but do enjoy life.

Cheap room 500 baht per night currently.. No beach huts here thats more the gulf islands.. Phuket and Bangla is very developed and very 1st world.. Many people on vacation budget 60 - 100 GBP per day as a normal amount to party drink enjoy the girls and bar scene.

If you want to do the backpacker bit the Koh Phan Gan has the full mnoon parties and beach huts can be 350 a night when no party going up to 1000 per night around the FMP when Haad Rin bursts at the seams with people..

DJ work.. Well you may get to spin a bit but when Thais earn low low money dont expect you to get paid (or obtain a work permit).. Basically your not going to come here and gig and survive on that. I would doubt you would even get any work without spending a lot of time networking.

Nightlife and bar scene are Phuket Pattaya and a bit of a different scene over on Samui.. KPG has the FMP's and theres a nice island vibe on KPG and Koh Tao but not so many girls style nightlife.

Hate to burst any bubbles but 2k is a nice long holiday amount.. No where near a live here amount.
