Ok maybe on in the foreseeable future, but at least the introduction of metered taxis was a step --- albeit a very small one --- in the right direction.
I always thought that a bath-bus loop around Patong (incl. Nanai) could actually be quite profitable (like in Pattaya), say 10 – 20 baht. At least they would also get the business of the Thais (and maybe even reduce the number of motorbike taxis, and at the same time improve traffic safety). Not holding my breath though.
