I do actually think it is a slow change Steve..
I also remember when first seeing meter taxis and being real happy about them asking him if he could give me his number and come and get me.. He said NO WAY !! and then I lived over at the temple so only inside town by a couple hundred meters..
He said then he would get a rock through the window if seen driving in Patong without a fare in the car. Also likely a beating also.
Then in perhaps the last year I think they can discretely get into town and pick up people via a phone call booking.
And to top the icing on the cake I recently drove down beech Rd and saw a Blue and Red meter taxi stopped or kerb crawling in the middle of the beach outside McDonalds area.. No fare in the care and looking like it was ready to pick any punter up.
So the times they are a changin..
