I am told that behind the scenes owning and renting out a lot of vehicles are senior current and ex police.. I dont have names or families tho only roughly.
As stated above many of the Tuk tuk drivers anre muslims and as is usual most of the more higher ups are phuket resident families..
Mates missus (phuket girl) previous Thai husband is well 'up there' in what is called the tuk tuk mafia.. One of his side jobs.. To discretely collect the 'stay open late' tea money (Stevem might well know him in this case)... Obvious police tuk tuk Mafia (I hate that term for a bunch of taxi drivers) tie in.
