These kind of weather boxes seem to be sensors that have a wired or pref wireless link to a data output LCD giving current and forecast.. They sense and log barometric pressure, rainfall, wind speed and direction, humidity, etc depending on models..

You have a nice 'weather report and forecast' LCD panel and can log everything on the PC also.. Then the bit I like a lot also is theres online software that gets everyones results and creates a accurate sensing databse all over the globe.. Collabrative efforts like this will mean more accurate and detailed readings.

I looked at one as my old fella is a bit of a weather hawk and likes to have a barometer etc on the house.. Was thinking of a present so I dug some stuff online but it looked a bit techy for him.. Nearly sold myself on one tho..
