I would stay in patong anyway,and nightlife doesnt really start until after 10pm in most areas.

Welcome to the board TT...We travel as a family also...

It'a amazing really...one year we stayed in Baan Sukhothai, which is right in bangla...but the rooms themselves, we had a Waterhouse Suite, are set back away from the street in amongst beautiful serene gardens and fishponds with walkways and bridges over them and a swimming pool with a bar...you couldn't be closer to the action...but we never had any problem with noise for sleeping.
