As I said, if money were no object it would be Phuket. Not Patong, but close enough to it if I wanted some life. Kata, Rawai, a couple of other places I found attractive.

When you go to other places though, my wife's family are in Nakhon Sawan, you realise just how expensive Phuket is.

Realistically. If I can make it happen in the next five years or so then it will very likely be a house up-country with the wife, and trips to Phuket as and when the mood takes me. Like when my friends are in town.

For me, the ideal scenario is summers in England taking care of business, and winters in Thailand doing some work that can be delivered over the internet and keeping my bones from freezing.

The heat is definitely something you have to deal with, but air conditioning is enough for me during the day and the evenings are fantastic pretty much all year round. It's not really a problem.
