Again, limited knowledge as you syeatman, but I am guessing there are very loyal pro-Thaksin supporters in the Military and no doubt a 'hard-core' group in the heirarchy of the Thai Police Force who couldn't give a monkeys about the King.
He is and should remain 'above' Government and Politics but I don't doubt he has the 'last say' as would My Queen in the UK when the 'Armed Forces of the people' get involved!
