Thats actually the oppostie of what happens Faulty, airlines over book carriage class and expect some people not to turn up but if they do then they have to upgrade lucky passengers. Passengers for upgrades, they look for well dressed single travellers, passengers with frequent flyer miles or memberships or just simply someone they like the look of, my friend used to be the upgrader for Virgin Airways. It pays to always ask as cheek sometimes gets you an upgrade as well!!!!!!
