Commission is 500 baht which they'll just pass on to you, but more likely try to stiff you on the price and up it to 4000 as they'll assume you are new. I don't even know what the "real" price is right now as I've heard reports of everything from 1800 (2200 sideline) to 4k (5k). To be honest four of you turning up at once even without mr taxi driver would come across as newbie-ish I think. Maybe the best play is to act the expat, say you're showing your holidaying friends around, you've been before, paid 2k baht, etc etc.

I take the view that if in LoS you properly get "out there", jump into it with both feet and find yourself in a situation where a falang chick, even for free, is your best option you are generally either a backpacker, broke, mad, or on the airplane.
