OK then your not getting the IP address by DHCP (automatically) perhaps DHCP isnt set up..

When you open the browser what IP does it try for (usually a 192.168.0.xxx range ??) if so then manually set you IP address in network properties to an ip within that range (subnet 255.255.255.0) so that you can then hit the routers config..

From there you need to set up DHCP and your modem settings / pass etc..
