SJ18, when I booked my flight with Thai air they said their normal baggage allowance was 30kg but as I was going to live in Thailand their policy was to offer 50kg. I flew cattle class but did only have a single ticket and it was printed somewhere either on thier web-site or on the ticket info. I spoke to them before departure to confirm and they were happy as larry about it.

In the 50kg limit they did not count our golf bags nor our hand luggage (so we put quite a bit of heavy stuff in them), we had about 10 boxes and a couple of suitcases and were quite a bit over the 50kg but a bit of sweet talking and confusing tactics got us through fine.

As an aside, when my tiraks sister emigrated to United States, she flew business class and was 10kg over the limit and her carrier refused to let her take it on the plane even at extra cost. She had to empty 10kg of stuff from her bags, coupled with the stress of leaving Thailand for good, rushing to get on the plane she had this extra hassle of deciding what of her stuff was now not going with her, I felt really sorry for her, especially as her two sisters were going to be the beneficiaries of the 10kg stuff and they were picking out what they wanted rather than helping.
