I read Private dancer before i went to Thailand, which in hindsight gave me a tainted view of BGs... Joy seemed to think going with customers and having Pete as her boyfriend as two separate things and they didn't mean anything to her, so no problem and his paranoia increased. But i agree with LiL that as the book went on i did feel for Joy. It gave me a cautious approach to the BG scene but have landed up with one, but hopefully won't end up the same as pete !.... worth a read
