That's true and that's what makes it a good read. And, to be honest, when I read it way back when, I was rooting for the two of them, in spite of how screwed-up they both were, to get the happy ending that they almost had, before her family ****ed things up once and for all. Looking back on it, I am not as sympathetic to them now, but I get a little cynical at times. Maybe it's just a phase I am going through!
