i sat at a farang resturant in town alone, my wife is extremely uncomfortable in these places, so she was off at the market and buying somethings to take to oz.

this fellow arrived with his girl and her sister/cousin and sat next to me and introduced himself, (long term farangs up here seem slow to do that, for reasons i dont know)

i greeted them and exchange pleasantries in english.
the farang then ran into a diatribe about how he was going to marry the younger of the girls, and all about what a good family she was from (father a senior policeman etc).

his main concern, was that he was to overstay his visa one day, and his desire to keep his passport "clean", so i explained to him about doing a visa extension, at the immigration service office which operates out of the local hospital.

the farangs english was limited, and i did not want to make a mistake in thai/issan explaining to his female friends, so i thought, i will call my wife and get her to explain in full flowing issan to his lady friends about the process and location.

so my wife mustered her strength and came to the resturant, english to the farang, issan pleasantries to the girls and me and a discussion of what she had bought in issan language to me , the look on the other girls faces changed.

the smiles went from their faces, and their previously confident body language closed.
i told my wife in issan, that the centre of the farangs attention was the daughter of a senior policeman.
my wifes face lit up, and the issan started at level i could not follow, more than 2 words in 10.(yangs and doks etc)

then my wife quickly stopped talking, looked at me and said in issan it was time to go back to the village, and quick.

so i said good bye to the other people (my wife said nothing to any), and departed, wondering why the reasons behind my wifes sudden desire to leave, i know she dislikes farangs venues, but this departure was very rapid.

in the truck, she told that the girl was a liar, and that the girls father was not a policeman, but a volunteer village policeman.
she said she felt pity for the farang as the girl would lie much to him, and that she did not want to hear more lies.

Interesting stuff!

Is your wife moving to aus with you?

If she doesnt like farang venues? Do you think she will handle living in Aus?
